Chapter 10 - The New Beginning
Constance’s final, desperate attempt to ruin our lives proved to be nothing more than a pathetic lie.
When federal investigators opened the actual sealed trust documents, they discovered a hidden clause implemented by the late patriarch.
He had always known Damian was illegitimate, and he had secretly named Alexander as the sole, irrevocable executor of the estate.
The trust transferred entirely to my son without requiring any additional signatures from dead lawyers.
The federal prosecutors built an absolute fortress of a case against the corrupt Prescott family.
Constance was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, massive medical fraud, and corporate embezzlement.
Damian was convicted on numerous charges, including attempted murder on live television and syndicate money laundering.
Both of them were sentenced to consecutive life terms in federal maximum-security prisons, ensuring they would never see the sun as free people again.
Arthur Vance struck a cowardly plea deal, giving up all his corrupt political contacts in exchange for a twenty-year sentence.
With the villains permanently removed from our lives, Alexander and I finally found the peace we desperately deserved.
We moved far away from the snowy misery of Nebraska, purchasing a breathtaking estate overlooking the warm, blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.
Alexander officially adopted our son, finally stepping into the role of the loving father he was always meant to be.
I watched from the sunlit patio as Alexander spun our giggling, one-year-old boy around in the green grass.
Our nightmare had ended, and we were finally surrounded by pure, unshakeable happiness.
Later that evening, the heavy front gates of our secure estate chimed to announce a special delivery.
The private courier handed me a heavy, ornate wooden box sealed with black wax.

I opened it and found a tarnished silver rattle resting beside a handwritten note written on ancient parchment.
The note simply read, "The Prescott fortune originally belonged to a much darker family, and we have finally come to collect what is ours."
