Chapter 8 - The Desperate Fight

The impact knocked the breath completely out of my lungs, but I refused to let go of the man trying to murder my family.

Greg punched me brutally in the jaw, his heavy ring cutting a deep gash across my cheek.

I ignored the blinding pain, grabbing his wrist and fighting desperately to keep the gun pointed away from us.

We rolled across the bloody carpet, knocking over heavy antique lamps and destroying the elegant furniture.

Amanda realized the situation was rapidly spiraling out of control, and she panicked entirely.

She grabbed the wounded FBI agent's dropped firearm from the floor and aimed it directly into the chaotic brawl.

"Stop moving, Daniel, or I swear I will shoot you both!" Amanda shrieked hysterically.

I managed to pin Greg's weapon arm to the floor, driving my knee aggressively into his stomach.

I grabbed a jagged, heavy shard of broken glass from the shattered coffee table and held it directly against Greg's throat.

"If you pull that trigger, Amanda, your partner dies before the bullet even reaches me," I threatened with deadly seriousness.

Amanda's hands shook violently, the heavy gun wavering dangerously in her unsteady grip.

Mister Vance saw that their flawless plan had completely failed, and the cowardly attorney decided to cut his losses.

He abandoned his partners, sprinting out the heavy wooden doors of the study and locking them firmly from the outside.

Amanda realized she was completely trapped in a room with a desperate father and an injured federal agent.

She looked at the heavy velvet curtains hanging near the shattered balcony doors, a psychotic idea forming in her eyes.

She pulled a silver decorative lighter from her pocket, sparked the flame, and set the highly flammable curtains ablaze.

"If I cannot have the house, then absolutely nobody will," Amanda laughed maniacally.

The heavy fabric caught fire instantly, sending towering orange flames rapidly climbing toward the wooden ceiling.
