Chapter 4 - The Hostage Walk

Greg smiled coldly, his designer tuxedo looking completely out of place against his murderous intentions.

"Get up slowly and keep your hands where I can see them," he ordered, gesturing with the weapon.

I stood up, keeping myself positioned firmly between the gun and my terrified daughter.

"Why are you doing this, Greg?" I asked, completely devastated by the betrayal of my brother in all but blood.

Greg laughed bitterly, revealing decades of hidden jealousy and toxic resentment.

"You built the company, you got the money, and you always got the perfect life while I just cleaned up your messes," he spat.

He grabbed my shoulder forcefully and shoved me toward the rear service entrance of the manor.

"We are going back inside, and you are going to smile for the guests while we walk to the private study," Greg commanded.

He warned me that if I made a single sudden movement, he would shoot Sophie first.

We walked back into the opulent building, passing through the busy corridors completely unnoticed by the oblivious catering staff.

The distant sounds of cheerful wedding guests laughing in the main hall made my stomach churn with sheer sickness.

Greg forced us down a quiet, carpeted hallway and kicked open the doors to a lavish, secluded library.

Amanda and Mister Vance were already waiting inside, standing behind a massive mahogany desk.

Amanda looked absolutely furious, her pristine wedding dress slightly stained with soot from the cellar fire.

"You just had to make things incredibly difficult, didn't you?" she hissed at me like a venomous snake.

Mister Vance adjusted his glasses and slid the forged property transfer documents across the smooth surface of the desk.

He placed an expensive, heavy fountain pen directly next to the fraudulent paperwork.

"Sign the documents right now, Daniel, or your beautiful little girl will not leave this room alive," the corrupt attorney threatened.

Greg pressed the cold barrel of the suppressed pistol aggressively against the back of Sophie's head.
