Chapter 6 - The Edge of the Balcony

"Do not take another step, or I will throw her over the edge!" Amanda screamed like an absolute maniac.

She held Sophie dangling dangerously over the low stone railing, her hands gripping the child's small dress.

My heart completely stopped beating, and a cold sweat broke out across my entire body.

"Please, Amanda, I will give you whatever you want, just bring her back inside," I begged, dropping to my knees.

Greg recovered from the blow, his face covered in dark red blood, and picked up his dropped pistol.

He walked over to me and kicked me brutally in the ribs, sending me sprawling across the luxurious carpet.

"You really thought a spilled bottle of ink would save you?" Greg mocked, wiping blood from his chin.

Mister Vance frantically opened his leather briefcase and pulled out a pristine, secondary copy of the transfer documents.

"I always print duplicates for unpredictable clients," the attorney stated with a smug, arrogant smile.

Greg pointed the gun directly at my head, pressing the cold steel firmly against my temple.

"Sign the backup copy right now, Daniel, and do not try any more stupid magic tricks," Greg ordered.

I crawled toward the desk, my entire body shaking with immense pain and utter defeat.

I picked up a cheap ballpoint pen from the attorney's briefcase and signed my name perfectly on the dotted line.

I had effectively surrendered my entire fortune, my company, and my home to a group of psychopaths.

Mister Vance quickly reviewed the signature, nodded in satisfaction, and carefully folded the documents into his jacket pocket.

I looked up at Amanda, tears streaming down my face as I begged for her to release my daughter.

Greg smiled a terrifying, evil smile that chilled me to my very core.

"We have everything we need now, Amanda, so you can go ahead and drop the brat," Greg commanded coldly.

Amanda smiled wickedly and slowly opened her hands.
