Chapter 1 - The Bridal Suite

I stared at the glowing screen of the secret phone, completely paralyzed by the horrifying truth.
The signature at the bottom of the digital document undeniably belonged to Mister Vance, the attorney waiting for us at the altar.
My entire relationship with Amanda had been a meticulously crafted illusion designed to steal everything I owned.
I slowly looked up from the screen and locked eyes with the woman I was supposed to marry in ten minutes.
Amanda no longer looked like a blushing, innocent bride.
Her facial expression hardened into a mask of pure, calculating malice.
"You really should not have gone through my personal things, Daniel," she whispered coldly.
I grabbed my terrified daughter, Sophie, and pulled her behind me to shield her.
"The wedding is absolutely over, and I am calling the police right now," I told her, my voice shaking with rage.
Amanda laughed a hollow, chilling sound that echoed terribly across the bridal suite.
"The police are not going to help you, because you are currently standing on private property owned by my associates," she revealed.
I lunged toward the heavy wooden door of the suite, keeping a firm grip on Sophie's trembling hand.
I threw the door open and sprinted down the lavishly decorated hallway of the historic manor.
The sound of string quartet music floated up from the grand ballroom below, completely ignorant of the nightmare unfolding above.
I reached the top of the grand staircase and looked down at the crowd of smiling guests.
Mister Vance was standing near the altar, clutching his sleek leather briefcase.
He looked up at the balcony, making direct eye contact with me.
I opened my mouth to scream for help, but Mister Vance merely smiled and tapped his earpiece.

Suddenly, four massive security guards in tailored black suits stepped out from the shadows and entirely blocked the main exit.
They drew heavy, metallic batons from their belts and began marching silently up the stairs directly toward us.
