David smiled at me with a cold, terrifying expression I had never seen on his face before.
He admitted that he had been secretly monitoring my medical records for over a year.
He stated calmly that he simply could not let my little sister ruin his chance to become a billionaire.
He demanded that I use my phone to record a video transferring all my corporate shares directly to his private accounts.
If I complied, he promised to hand over the cooler and walk away forever.
I knew he was lying, and that he fully intended to destroy the vials and shoot me the moment he got what he wanted.
I tried to reason with him, taking a slow, cautious step toward the metal grate to close the distance.
Without any warning, Ben lunged from the dark shadows behind the massive steel boilers.
He tackled David violently to the hard concrete floor, knocking the breath out of the corrupt man.
The red medical cooler slid rapidly across the wet floor, hitting the brick wall with a loud thud.
The two men wrestled furiously in the dirt, fighting desperately for control of the loaded weapon.
A deafening gunshot echoed through the small, enclosed basement room.
