Chapter 6 - The Desperate Escape

The three armed mercenaries raised their suppressed rifles immediately.
Mark did not hesitate for a single second to protect the woman he loved.
He fired his handgun wildly toward the men, using the element of absolute surprise.
The loud gunshots echoed deafeningly in the tight, concrete maintenance tunnel.
One of the mercenaries dropped his rifle and fell heavily into the shallow water.
Victoria lunged forward with incredible speed and tackled the second man to the ground.
She used her FBI combat training to swiftly disarm him and knock him completely unconscious.
Mark tackled the third man against the damp concrete wall, wrestling for control of his weapon.
The mercenary was much stronger, but Mark fought with the desperate strength of a protective father.
Victoria grabbed a heavy iron pipe from the floor and struck the mercenary hard across the helmet.
The man collapsed instantly, leaving the dark tunnel eerily quiet once again.
Mark gasped for air and thanked Victoria for saving his life in the dark.
They quickly stripped the mercenaries of their tactical gear, extra magazines, and weapons.
Victoria checked the heavy steel door at the end of the long tunnel and found it unlocked.
They pushed the door open and emerged into a deserted alleyway behind the burning warehouse.
The sound of distant fire sirens wailed through the cold, rainy night air.
Mark knew they had to get back to the estate immediately to rescue Sarah.
They hotwired a rusty delivery van parked in the alley and sped toward the wealthy suburbs.
Victoria loaded a fresh magazine into her stolen rifle and prepared for absolute war.
She promised Mark that they would tear David's criminal empire apart piece by piece.
Mark gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned completely white.
They tore through the iron gates of his estate, sending gravel flying in every direction.
Mark slammed the brakes, and they both jumped out before the van even stopped moving.
They sprinted through the pouring rain toward the massive wooden front doors of the mansion.
Mark burst into the grand foyer, shouting Sarah's name with frantic, desperate energy.
The house was completely silent, except for the sound of a television playing in the living room.
Mark ran into the room and saw a video playing on the massive flat-screen television.
It was a pre-recorded video of David holding a terrified Sarah by the collar of her pajamas.

David smiled directly at the camera and stated that he knew Mark would survive the warehouse fire.
He announced that if Mark wanted to see his daughter again, he had to play one final game.
