Chapter 9 - The Frame Job

The heavy silence in the armored SUV was completely suffocating.
Richard had obviously murdered my mother to completely silence her and take all the stolen money for himself.
He had intentionally left the heavy pistol I kicked under the couch perfectly placed next to her body.
I was now the absolute primary suspect in a brutal homicide, effectively ending my credibility with local law enforcement.
If the state police caught me, they would lock me away forever and hand Maya straight back into the system.
I knew I had to personally confront Richard and force a recorded confession to completely clear my name.
I asked my FBI friend to track Richard's primary cell phone signal using secure federal towers.
He gave me the exact coordinates of an abandoned textile factory on the northern edge of the city.
I drove the stolen SUV through the dark, rainy night with absolute, terrifying purpose.
I parked a mile away from the factory and told Maya to lock the heavy armored doors from the inside.
I handed her my personal phone and told her to dial the FBI the exact second she heard me yell.
I crept silently through the tall, wet grass toward the towering brick structure.
I slipped through a rusted side door and navigated the dark, cavernous factory floor.
I saw a single bright light illuminating a small office in the center of the massive building.
Richard was frantically packing thick stacks of my stolen money into a black duffel bag.
I raised the stolen submachine gun and stepped completely out of the dark shadows.
"It is completely over, Richard," I announced coldly.
Richard slowly turned around, dropping the money onto the dusty concrete floor.
He raised his hands in the air, but a wicked, victorious smile spread across his face.
May you like
"You are too late, Jason," he laughed cruelly while pointing toward the dark rafters above my head.
Maya was hanging completely suspended over a massive vat of industrial acid, bound entirely by thick ropes.
