Chapter 9 - The Last Stand

My father's arrogant, booming voice echoed terrifyingly through the massive, freezing hangar.
He had completely faked the commercial flight records to make us think he was safely out of the country.
He cruelly demanded that we hand over the baby and the evidence if we wanted to walk away alive.
I looked at Liam in absolute horror, realizing my father still actively wanted to take my daughter.
Liam aggressively pushed me firmly behind a massive steel aircraft engine to keep us completely shielded.
My grandfather stood completely tall, firmly refusing to cower before his greedy, pathetic son-in-law.
He loudly shouted back that my father was a completely worthless coward who would absolutely rot in prison.
The heavy metal door violently exploded inward with a deafening, terrifying boom that shook the ground.
Thick dust and sharp debris violently rained down across the freezing concrete floor of the hangar.
The armed mercenaries aggressively swarmed into the dark building with their heavy weapons raised high.
My father walked in slowly behind them, wearing an expensive tailored suit completely ruined by the snow.
He confidently held out his hand and strictly ordered Liam to hand over the yellow manila envelope.
Liam looked down at his burner phone, desperately waiting for the confirmation text from his hacker friend.
He needed exactly three more minutes to completely drain my father's stolen offshore accounts.
Liam boldly stepped out from behind the heavy steel engine and aggressively raised his hands in the air.
He slowly walked toward my father, holding the envelope out as if he was finally surrendering.
My father smiled wickedly, clearly believing he had completely won this incredibly long, cruel game.
He aggressively snatched the thick envelope from Liam's hand and laughed with pure, absolute triumph.
Suddenly, the highly distinct sound of massive, heavy police helicopter blades violently chopped through the air above us.
Extremely bright tactical spotlights violently smashed through the hangar's glass roof, blinding everyone inside.
Dozens of heavily armored SWAT officers aggressively repelled down from the massive choppers through the broken skylights.
They instantly surrounded my terrified father and his confused mercenaries with overwhelming, absolute lethal force.
Detective Miller stepped forward from the shadows and heavily placed cold steel handcuffs directly onto my father's wrists.
Liam's phone suddenly buzzed loudly in his pocket with a bright, glowing green notification.
The massive wire transfer had been completely reversed, returning every single stolen penny directly to my grandfather's accounts.

My father screamed in pure, absolute agony as he realized he had just lost absolutely everything he ever wanted.
I finally collapsed into Liam's strong arms, violently crying tears of pure, absolute joy and overwhelming relief.
