Chapter 5 - The Bleeding Billionaire

A searing, blinding pain ripped through my side as I collapsed onto the cold stone floor of the wine cellar.

Harland wiped the blood from his broken nose and aimed his smoking gun directly at my head.

He laughed maliciously, stating that my vast wealth could not buy me a bulletproof vest.

He prepared to pull the trigger and end my life in the dark, forgotten basement of my own home.

Before his finger could apply the final pressure, a massive figure stepped out of the tunnel shadows.

It was Vance, my imposing, battle-scarred head of private security.

Vance swung a heavy iron pipe with devastating speed, striking Harland’s hand and sending the gun clattering across the floor.

Harland screamed in agony, clutching his shattered wrist as he fell to his knees.

Vance did not hesitate, delivering a brutal kick to Harland’s chest that knocked him completely unconscious.

My vision began to blur as I pressed my hand tightly against the bleeding wound on my side.

Vance knelt beside me, quickly wrapping a tight pressure bandage around my torso to slow the bleeding.

I asked him if Elena and Nora were safe.

He nodded gruffly, explaining that the doctor had loaded them into an armored transport vehicle hidden in the woods.

Vance hoisted me onto his broad shoulders, carrying me effortlessly through the damp, narrow tunnels.

We emerged miles away from the estate, near a deserted highway where his heavily armored SUV was waiting.

He threw me into the backseat next to a terrified Nora, who immediately grabbed my hand.

Vance jumped into the driver’s seat and slammed his foot on the gas, tearing off into the pitch-black night.

I struggled to keep my eyes open, the sheer blood loss threatening to pull me into unconsciousness.

I asked Vance where he was taking us, assuming we were heading to my private corporate hospital.

Vance looked at me through the rearview mirror, his expression turning cold and unfamiliar.

He locked all the passenger doors from the master control panel with a heavy, mechanical click.

He calmly stated that we were not going to the hospital, and I was no longer the one giving orders.

Vance revealed that he had been secretly working for my greatest enemy for the past three years.
