Chapter 6 - The Blood Feud

Nico became a completely different man the moment he believed Norah was dead.

The cold, calculating mafia boss vanished, replaced by a reckless, grieving monster.

He declared an all-out, merciless war against the entire Romano syndicate.

Within three hours, half of the South Side businesses were engulfed in roaring flames.

Nico personally led the assault teams, executing anyone who wore the Romano colors.

Miles away, Norah dragged her freezing, bleeding body out of the muddy river.

She collapsed onto a rocky shoreline, barely clinging to life.

An old, retired mechanic found her shivering in the mud at dawn.

He carried her to his rural auto shop and wrapped her in thick, warm blankets.

He offered to call for an ambulance, but Norah begged him not to involve the authorities.

She knew she had to warn Nico about Arthur's massive betrayal before it was too late.

She asked the old man to use his landline telephone.

She dialed Nico's private, encrypted office number.

The phone rang repeatedly in the chaos of the mafia headquarters.

Someone finally picked up the receiver.

Norah desperately cried out Nico's name through her chattering teeth.

A cold, familiar voice answered her from the other end of the line.

Arthur told her it was a real shame she knew how to swim.
