Chapter 4 - The Hunted Queen

Nico stared at the blinking red light of the federal tracker.
The betrayal felt like a jagged knife twisting deep inside his stomach.
He ordered his men to completely lock down every highway and bridge leading out of the city.
He wanted the FBI agents dead, but he demanded that Norah be brought to him alive.
Deep underground, Norah was currently handcuffed to the handle of the federal van.
Agent Vance was driving aggressively through the service tunnels to avoid the cartel hitmen.
Norah knew that if she went into federal custody, Nico would spend the rest of his life in a concrete cell.
She unpinned a hidden bobby pin from her wet hair and began picking the cheap handcuff lock.
She had watched Nico pick locks a hundred times during their late-night conversations.
The metal cuffs finally clicked open just as the van sped toward the tunnel exit.
Norah kicked the side door open and threw herself out of the moving vehicle.
She hit the muddy embankment and rolled violently into the thick brush.
She heard Agent Vance slam on the brakes and curse loudly in the distance.
She scrambled up a steep hill and managed to sneak onto a slow-moving freight train heading north.
She collapsed into the corner of a dark, empty boxcar and gasped for air.
She thought she was finally safe from the FBI, the cartel, and the mafia.
A match suddenly flared in the dark corner of the train car.

A tall man in a dark suit was sitting on a wooden crate, smoking a cigarette.
He smiled at her and said that Arthur had sent him to finish the job.
