Maya froze completely as Richard pressed the cold metal barrel against Elias's head.
She knew her ruthless uncle would not hesitate to pull the trigger and end an innocent life.
The digital retinal key felt incredibly heavy in her torn uniform pocket.
This small device was the only thing standing between Richard and total global domination.
Elias looked at Maya with an intensely calm expression despite the immediate danger.
He silently shook his head to silently beg her not to surrender the crucial evidence.
Richard grew impatient and aggressively cocked the hammer of the suppressed pistol.
"I will count to three before I decorate my expensive rug with his brains," Richard threatened coldly.
Maya slowly raised her hands in the air to signal her absolute surrender.
She reached into her pocket and pulled out the small glass case containing the retinal key.
She gently placed the precious artifact onto the heavy mahogany desk in front of Richard.
Richard laughed triumphantly and snatched the device with greedy enthusiasm.
He proudly declared that he would finally become the undisputed king of the corporate world.
He turned his back on them for just a fraction of a second to inspect the stolen key.
Maya noticed a tiny blinking red light pinned to the collar of Elias's chef coat.
It was a high definition micro camera that Elias had secretly activated during the chaos.
Elias had been live streaming this entire confession directly to the corporation's board of directors.
Richard's encrypted smartphone suddenly began vibrating violently on the desk.
He glanced at the screen and saw dozens of urgent messages from his frantic board members.
They had heard every single word of his murderous confession in real time.
Richard's face twisted into a mask of pure unadulterated rage and absolute panic.
He realized his carefully constructed empire had just been completely destroyed in front of the whole world.
He wildly raised his pistol and aimed it directly at Maya's chest.
Before he could pull the trigger Elias violently elbowed the armed guard standing next to him.
