Chapter 4 - The Shattered Glass

Shards of broken glass exploded across the dining room like deadly rain.

The front of the armored truck was heavily reinforced with thick steel plates.

Richard had clearly called his private mercenary team to extract him from the failing situation.

The FBI agent was thrown to the ground by the sheer force of the violent impact.

Guests scrambled desperately over overturned tables to escape the massive vehicle.

Four men wearing black tactical gear poured out of the truck with assault rifles raised.

They immediately formed a protective wall around Richard.

Richard smiled wickedly and told his men to execute everyone in the room.

Elias grabbed Maya by the arm and pulled her behind the heavy mahogany bar.

Bullets began tearing through the expensive liquor bottles above their heads.

Amber liquid and shattered glass rained down onto their shoulders as they crawled toward the kitchen.

Maya firmly clutched the silver steak knife in her trembling hand.

She knew they needed to reach the basement office where the primary security servers were located.

The servers contained the only digital copy of the evidence she needed to permanently destroy Richard.

Elias kicked open the swinging kitchen doors and ushered her safely inside.

The terrified kitchen staff had already fled through the emergency fire escape.

One of the masked mercenaries followed them into the kitchen and raised his weapon.

Elias grabbed a heavy cast iron pan from the stove and hurled it with incredible force.

The heavy pan struck the gunman squarely in the helmet and knocked him completely unconscious.

They dragged the unconscious man into the pantry and locked the heavy door behind them.

Maya pointed toward the metal floor grate that led directly into the underground wine cellar.

They pried the grate open and climbed down into the pitch black darkness.

They could hear Richard shouting orders from the dining room above them.

He commanded his men to set the entire building on fire to ensure no one survived.

The strong smell of gasoline suddenly began pouring down through the wooden floorboards.
