Chapter 8 - The Abandoned Warehouse

Diego cursed loudly, kicking the deflated tire of his luxury sports car in pure frustration.
Marisol did not panic; she simply ran to the far corner of the massive garage.
She pulled the tarp off a dusty, vintage motorcycle that Diego hadn't driven in years.
"I kept the engine maintained on my cleaning days," Marisol said, tossing him the heavy keys.
Diego looked at her in absolute awe before jumping onto the leather seat.
Marisol climbed on behind him, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist as the engine roared to life.
They sped through the chaotic traffic of Mexico City, racing against the ticking clock.
They finally arrived at the abandoned industrial warehouse in the desolate outskirts of Santa Fe.
Diego kicked the heavy metal doors open, holding the briefcase in one hand and the pistol in the other.
Paulina's father was standing in the center of the dark room, flanked by five armed mercenaries.
Valentina was sitting on a wooden crate, clutching her stuffed rabbit and looking incredibly brave.
"Drop the gun and slide the briefcase over," the cartel lawyer demanded with a cruel smile.
Diego tossed the weapon aside and kicked the heavy briefcase across the dusty concrete floor.
The lawyer opened it, his eyes gleaming greedily at the billions of dollars in bearer bonds.
"A pleasure doing business with you, Diego," the lawyer laughed, signaling his men to raise their weapons.
He had never intended to leave any surviving witnesses to his massive corporate theft.
Suddenly, the roof of the warehouse exploded inward as a heavily armed SWAT team breached the building.

Marisol had discreetly used Diego's phone to text his private security chief while they were on the motorcycle.
Amidst the blinding smoke and gunfire, a mercenary lunged directly toward Valentina with a drawn knife.
