Chapter 4 - The Torn Document

Marisol felt the entire world spinning out of control.
She knew with absolute certainty that Diego was the only man she had ever been with.
"That test is a complete lie," Marisol cried out, tears streaming down her face.
Paulina waved the official document in the air like a victorious trophy.
"The science does not lie, you pathetic little liar."
Arthur adjusted his suit jacket, wearing a smug and satisfied grin.
"I will call the police now to have this trespasser arrested for attempted fraud."
Diego stared at the paper, his mind struggling to process the impossible information.
He looked down at Valentina, who was staring up at him with his exact same dark eyes.
"Let me see that paper," Diego demanded, his voice dangerously low.
He snatched the document back from Paulina and held it up to the chandelier light.
Diego was a billionaire who had spent his life analyzing forged corporate contracts.
He immediately noticed that the official hospital watermark was slightly misaligned.
"You bribed the courier," Diego said, glaring directly at Arthur.
Arthur scoffed, taking a nervous step backward toward the locked door.
"You are delusional, Diego."
Diego reached into Paulina's designer handbag, which she had carelessly left on the entryway table.
He dumped the contents onto the marble floor, scattering lipstick and expensive sunglasses everywhere.
A crumpled, secondary medical envelope fell out and landed perfectly at his feet.
Diego ripped it open and read the genuine, original laboratory results.

It was a ninety-nine point nine percent match.
Before Diego could confront them, the sound of breaking glass echoed from the kitchen.
