Chapter 2 - The Ambush
Diego stared up at the woman he had almost married.
Paulina slowly descended the stairs, her silk robe trailing behind her like a poisonous snake.
"You actually think you can ruin my life for a maid?" she sneered.
Diego stepped in front of Marisol and Valentina, shielding them with his broad shoulders.
"You have absolutely no power here, Paulina."
Paulina laughed, a cold sound that made Valentina bury her face in her mother's apron.
"Arthur and my father merged their corporate shares this morning."
"If you break this engagement, they will vote you out of your own company."
Marisol touched Diego's arm, her hands still shaking violently.
"Please, Diego, just let us go before this gets any worse."
"You are not going anywhere," Diego said firmly.
The heavy oak front doors suddenly swung open with a loud crash.
Arthur strode into the mansion, flanked by two armed security guards.
The older man adjusted his expensive tie, looking at Diego with pure disappointment.
"I protected your empire from gold diggers four years ago, Diego."
"Now I have to protect you from your own foolish emotions."
Diego clenched his fists, ready to tear his former mentor apart.
"You stole my daughter, Arthur."
Arthur simply shrugged, completely unaffected by the billionaire's rage.
"I secured the company's future, which is something you clearly cannot handle."
Arthur gestured to the armed men standing behind him.
"Escort the maid and her bastard child off the property immediately."
Diego lunged forward, but a guard drew a taser and aimed it directly at his chest.

Marisol screamed as the guard's finger tightened on the trigger.
Suddenly, Valentina stepped forward and threw her stuffed rabbit directly at the armed guard's face.
