Chapter 7 - The Hidden Descent

The air inside the dark, heavy steel vault immediately felt incredibly thin and suffocating.
Mark panicked, banging his fists uselessly against the impenetrable titanium door.
"We are going to suffocate in here, we have maybe ten minutes of air left!" Mark cried out in pure terror.
Silas ignored the panicked teller and immediately pulled a small flashlight from his suit pocket.
He quickly scanned the reinforced walls, looking for any signs of structural weakness.
"This is a custom-built fortress, there is absolutely no way to hack the door from the inside," Silas muttered in rare frustration.
Leo coughed softly, holding tightly onto Silas's tailored suit jacket.
"My daddy told me there is always a secret door where the gold sleeps," the little boy whispered.
Silas paused, his sharp eyes darting toward the massive pallets of stacked gold bullion in the center of the room.
He rushed over and forcefully shoved hundreds of heavy gold bars onto the floor, exposing the steel tiles underneath.
In the dead center of the floor was a tiny, smooth black glass panel that looked completely out of place.
"It is a biometric lock, heavily encrypted for a specific DNA sequence," Silas realized with sudden hope.
He gently picked Leo up and pressed the little boy's small thumb against the cold glass panel.
The glass instantly glowed a bright, welcoming green.
The entire floor violently shifted, rapidly dropping downward like a high-speed elevator shaft.
Mark screamed as they plunged deep into the earth, leaving the suffocating vault far above them.
The elevator finally screeched to a halt, opening up into a brilliantly lit, secret underground subway station.
A sleek, private silver train car sat waiting on the tracks, humming with quiet electricity.

Silas stepped out cautiously, his weapons drawn and ready for anything.
The door of the luxury train car slowly slid open, and a man in a white suit was sitting comfortably inside, clapping his hands.
