Chapter 6 - The Vault of Secrets

Heavy armored vehicles slammed to a halt directly outside the destroyed bank entrance.

Dozens of men dressed in tactical police uniforms swarmed the perimeter, aiming floodlights inside.

Mark let out a massive sigh of relief, thinking the real authorities had finally arrived to save them.

"Thank God, the police are here," Mark said, leaning against the counter in exhaustion.

Silas quickly grabbed Mark by the collar and aggressively yanked him down behind the counter.

"Those are not real police officers, they are heavily armed assassins bought by Leo's uncle," Silas hissed sharply.

Sterling, still hiding under his desk, heard the conversation and saw an opportunity to save himself.

The corrupt manager crawled rapidly toward the heavy steel door of the bank's main vault.

He punched in his master code and the massive, circular steel door began to slowly swing open.

"Hey, cops, the kid is right over here behind the counter!" Sterling screamed at the top of his lungs.

The fake police officers immediately opened heavy fire, shattering the remaining bulletproof glass into deadly shrapnel.

Silas scooped Leo up in one strong arm and forcefully pushed Mark toward the open vault.

"Get inside the vault right now!" Silas ordered, returning precise fire to cover their desperate escape.

Mark stumbled into the incredibly cold, heavily armored room, falling onto stacks of gold bars.

Silas dove in right behind him, carrying the little boy safely out of the line of fire.

Before Silas could hit the internal locking mechanism, Sterling viciously kicked the door from the outside.

The heavy steel vault sealed shut with a deafening, sickening click, locking them completely in the dark.

Sterling's cruel laughter echoed through the intercom system mounted on the thick wall.

"Enjoy your tomb, because I just shut off the oxygen circulation system," Sterling mocked them coldly.
