Chapter 8 - The Desperate Fight

The corrupt agent screamed in absolute agony, dropping his heavy tactical rifle to clutch his bleeding leg.

Chaos erupted instantly inside the brilliantly lit airplane hangar.

Leo seized the desperate opportunity, launching his entire body fiercely at Richard to wrestle the silver pistol away.

The two men crashed violently onto the hard concrete, struggling desperately for control of the deadly weapon.

Clara used her newly strengthened, adrenaline-fueled legs to stand up completely on her own.

She grabbed the heavy, metal handle of a rolling aircraft maintenance cart and shoved it aggressively toward the remaining guards.

The massive metal cart slammed brutally into the guards, knocking them entirely off balance and pinning them against the SUV.

"Clara, run to the hangar doors!" Leo shouted frantically, his hands desperately gripping Richard's wrists.

Clara refused to leave him behind, searching frantically for anything she could use as a weapon.

Suddenly, a loud, deafening gunshot echoed sharply through the cavernous hangar, freezing everyone in their tracks.

Leo let out a sharp gasp, his hands slowly slipping away from Richard’s wrists.

He collapsed heavily onto the cold concrete floor, a dark pool of crimson blood spreading rapidly beneath his denim jacket.

"No!" Clara screamed, her heart shattering completely as she watched the brave boy fall perfectly still.

Richard stood up slowly, straightening his tailored suit jacket with a terrifying, emotionless calm.

He kicked the silver pistol into the shadows and pulled a second, identical weapon from his ankle holster.

Richard smiled a wicked, terrifying smile, aiming the barrel of the gun directly at Clara’s heart.

"It really is a tragedy, Clara, but the press will completely believe that you died in a heartbreaking accident while trying to run away."
