Chapter 7 - The Hostage Situation
The armored SUV sped quickly through the desolate industrial park, bypassing all official security checkpoints.
Clara kept her expression entirely blank, desperately hiding her terrifying realization from the corrupt federal agent.
She slowly reached her hand across the dark leather seat, secretly writing three desperate letters on Leo’s palm with her fingernail: F-A-K-E.
Leo stiffened slightly, his intelligent eyes darting toward the locked doors of the moving vehicle.
The SUV finally screeched to a halt inside a massive, brilliantly lit airplane hangar.
Waiting casually by the stairs of a sleek private jet was Richard Sterling, holding a manila envelope and smiling a dark, victorious smile.
The fake FBI agents aggressively dragged Leo and Clara out of the vehicle, throwing them roughly onto the polished concrete floor.
"You really thought a bunch of dramatic stunts could dismantle an empire I spent twenty years building?" Richard laughed coldly.
He threw the manila envelope onto the concrete directly in front of Clara’s trembling hands.
"Sign the legal waiver transferring your entire maternal trust fund to my complete control, Clara," Richard commanded.
"If you sign it, I will generously let this pathetic boy live."
To prove he wasn't bluffing, Richard pulled a silver pistol from his tailored coat and aimed it squarely at Leo’s head.
Clara looked at the legal document, realizing her grandmother’s massive fortune was the true reason for her three-year imprisonment.
She slowly picked up the expensive fountain pen, her tears falling quietly onto the crisp legal paper.
Richard smiled triumphantly, stepping closer to watch his final victory become an absolute reality.
Clara uncapped the heavy metal pen, hovering the ink directly over the signature line.
