Chapter 2 - The Poisoned Vitamin

Clara fought desperately against the strong hands pushing her wheelchair down the dimly lit hallway.
She screamed for help, but the thick, soundproof walls of the luxury hotel swallowed her voice entirely.
The massive bodyguards shoved her into an empty, luxurious penthouse suite and locked the heavy wooden door from the outside.
Clara sat alone in the quiet room, her heart hammering wildly against her ribcage as she clutched the red medical folder.
She flipped frantically through the remaining pages, discovering that the synthetic paralytic was secretly administered through her specialized daily nutritional supplements.
The door suddenly clicked open, and Richard walked in holding a silver tray with a tall glass of her green vitamin smoothie.
His face no longer held the gentle, heroic fatherly warmth that he presented to the cameras and the press.
His eyes were cold, calculating, and filled with a terrifying, absolute authority.
"Drink your vitamins, Clara, the excitement of the wedding has clearly exhausted you," Richard said in a dangerously low voice.
Clara looked at the green liquid, knowing it was the very poison keeping her trapped in this chair.
She knew that if she refused, he would physically force it down her throat or call his private, corrupt doctors.
Clara took the glass with trembling hands, brought it to her lips, and pretended to swallow the thick liquid.
When Richard turned his back to check his vibrating phone, she quietly spat the mouthful into a large potted fern beside her chair.
She repeated this highly risky process three times until the glass was completely empty.
"Good girl," Richard smiled, taking the empty glass from her shaking hands without a second thought.
He left the room, locking the heavy deadbolt behind him and plunging Clara into complete isolation once again.
An hour passed in suffocating silence, and Clara suddenly felt a strange, burning sensation in her right foot.

She looked down and watched in absolute shock as her big toe twitched completely on its own for the first time in three years.
Before she could even process the miraculous movement, the door swung open again, and Richard stepped inside holding a large, terrifying medical syringe.
