Chapter 9 - The Boardroom Confrontation

The ultimate betrayal of her own father's cruel legacy hurt Claire deeper than any poison ever could.
She realized her father had never trusted her to run the empire and had orchestrated this nightmare to keep the money in Daniel's ruthless hands.
She wiped the tears from her face and decided that she was going to take back her company anyway, purely out of spite.
Noah proudly held her hand as they marched directly into the gleaming glass lobby of the Sterling Corporation headquarters.
The security guards were too stunned to stop the woman whose funeral they had attended just yesterday.
They rode the executive elevator all the way to the top floor, where the emergency board meeting was currently taking place.
Daniel was sitting comfortably at the head of the massive mahogany table, pen in hand, ready to sign the final transfer of absolute power.
Claire kicked the heavy wooden doors open, sending a shockwave of loud gasps through the entire board of directors.
"I believe my seat is currently occupied," Claire said with a fierce, unwavering confidence that commanded the entire room.
Daniel slowly lowered his expensive pen, his face a perfectly calm mask of pure, calculated evil.
He did not look surprised, nor did he attempt to run from the undeniable evidence Noah was holding.
Instead, Daniel simply smiled and reached into the inner pocket of his tailored suit jacket.

He pulled out a small electronic remote and firmly pressed his thumb onto the glowing red button.
Daniel calmly announced that he had strapped a massive military-grade explosive device directly underneath the boardroom table.
