Chapter 5 - The Enemy's Wife
Noah grabbed a heavy wrench from the counter and cautiously unlocked the steel door.
Sarah, Daniel's beautiful and wealthy wife, stepped into the dreary basement holding a large waterproof briefcase.
She immediately raised her hands to show she was unarmed and completely alone.
"My husband has lost his mind to absolute greed, and I want to stop him," Sarah pleaded passionately.
She placed the heavy briefcase on the table and popped the golden latches open.
Inside were stacks of highly classified corporate documents and a secondary vial of the original neurotoxin.
Sarah explained that she had stolen the evidence from Daniel's private safe while he was dealing with the funeral disaster.
Claire looked at the documents and realized they contained everything needed to send Daniel to federal prison forever.
"We can take this directly to the board of directors tomorrow morning and ruin him," Claire said with a victorious smile.
Noah thanked Sarah for risking her own life to save them from a terrible fate.
Sarah smiled warmly and said she was just glad to finally be on the right side of history.
She casually mentioned that she needed to step outside for just a moment to call her private driver.
Noah nodded, turning his back to study the complex chemical structure of the poison in the briefcase.
Sarah stepped out into the rainy alleyway and quickly locked the heavy steel door from the outside.

She pulled out her cell phone and calmly dialed her husband's personal number.
"I locked them in the basement like rats, Daniel, you can send the cleaning crew now," she whispered into the receiver.
