Chapter 3 - The Paralyzing Truth

The getaway car swerved wildly through the busy downtown traffic to lose any potential pursuers.

Noah grabbed the bloody microchip from Claire's hand and tossed it out the open window.

"Who is driving this car?" Claire asked, her voice shaking with residual fear.

Noah explained that the driver was his trusted medical school roommate who owed him a major favor.

Claire took a deep breath and began to explain the horrifying truth behind her fake death.

She revealed that Daniel was the primary trustee of her late father's massive corporate empire.

According to the legal will, if Claire died before her twenty-fifth birthday, Daniel would inherit absolute control of the company.

"My birthday is tomorrow at midnight," Claire whispered, realizing how close she had come to losing everything.

Daniel had poisoned her evening tea with a rare, undetectable neurotoxin that perfectly mimicked a fatal heart attack.

She had been completely paralyzed but fully awake while they zipped her into a body bag and placed her in the coffin.

"I heard him laughing on the phone with the medical examiner," she sobbed softly.

Noah promised her that they were going to expose Daniel to the police and take back her life.

Suddenly, the driver slammed on the brakes, sending the car sliding sideways across the wet asphalt.

Two massive black SUVs had expertly blocked the entire intersection ahead of them.

Before they could reverse, Claire's eyes rolled back in her head and she collapsed onto Noah's lap.

The terrifying neurotoxin was mysteriously reactivating in her bloodstream.
