Chapter 6 - The Federal Raid
A blinding flashbang grenade detonated in the center of the warehouse.
The deafening explosion sent everyone crashing to the concrete floor in absolute agony.
"Federal agents, drop your weapons immediately!" a voice roared through a massive megaphone.
Dozens of heavily armed SWAT team members swarmed into the building through the smoke.
Red laser sights painted the chests of Marcus, Sebastian, and the two loan sharks.
The cartel thugs instantly dropped their weapons and surrendered, knowing they were completely outmatched.
Sebastian began weeping hysterically on the ground, begging the officers not to shoot him.
I stayed perfectly still on the concrete, shielding my ears from the ringing chaos.
A female FBI agent rushed over to me and gently helped me to my feet.
"Are you Camila Vance?" the agent asked, keeping her rifle aimed at Marcus.
"Yes, I am," I coughed, brushing the dust from my ruined clothes.
Marcus stared at me with wide, completely terrified eyes from the floor.
"Who called the feds?" Marcus screamed, struggling against the heavy zip-ties the officers placed on his wrists.
I walked over to him and looked down with a calm, satisfied smile.
"I did, Marcus," I revealed confidently.
"The independent financial firm in New York flagged your fraudulent loan attempt yesterday afternoon."
"They contacted the FBI, and we spent the last twelve hours setting this entire trap."
Beatrice shrieked in absolute fury as an officer placed her in handcuffs.
"You planned to have us arrested before you even walked into the house this morning!" she yelled.
"You tried to steal my mother's life savings, Beatrice, so I simply let you dig your own grave," I replied coldly.
The agents hauled Marcus and Sebastian out toward the waiting armored vehicles.
The female FBI agent handed me a thermal blanket and praised my bravery.

"It is finally over, Mrs. Vance," she said kindly.
"Not quite yet," a cold, sinister voice echoed from the dark catwalk high above us.
