Chapter 9 - The Arrest

The explosive breach threw both Julian and me violently to the floor.
Heavily armed federal agents poured directly into the operating room through the thick, grey smoke.
Two massive tactical officers immediately grabbed Julian, slamming him brutally face-first into the cold tiles.
"Suspect is entirely secure, detonator is safely recovered!" an agent yelled loudly over the chaos.
I coughed violently, gasping heavily for air as I dragged myself over to my daughter's bed.
Chloe was crying uncontrollably, but it was purely from absolute, overwhelming joy.
Sarah gently laid the perfectly healthy, screaming baby boy directly onto Chloe's chest.
I wrapped my arms completely around both of them, sobbing heavily into Chloe’s damp hair.
We had actually survived the absolute worst nightmare of our entire lives.
Paramedics rushed rapidly into the room, quickly assessing Chloe and bandaging my bleeding shoulder.
Julian was violently dragged up from the floor by the federal agents.
His hands were heavily cuffed tightly behind his back, and his pristine white coat was covered in my blood.
But as the agents marched him directly past us, Julian did not look defeated in the slightest.
He looked directly at my crying daughter and flashed that completely terrifying, charismatic smile.
"I have already transferred the entirety of my wealth to a completely untraceable offshore trust," Julian sneered arrogantly.
"My high-priced lawyers will have me completely out on bail by tomorrow morning."
"And you know perfectly well that my prenuptial agreement gives me full legal custody of that child."
Chloe pulled her newborn son tightly against her chest, her eyes wide with renewed terror.
Julian laughed darkly as the federal agents forcefully dragged him out into the chaotic hallway.
He truly believed his massive wealth and power would completely shield him from the consequences of his actions.
I stood up slowly, pressing a thick gauze pad firmly against my throbbing shoulder.
I walked directly out into the hallway, where Arthur was standing quietly near the shattered glass doors.

I looked at the private investigator and gave him a single, definitive nod.
"Release the secondary files to the press right now," I told Arthur coldly.
