Chapter 6 - The Breach

The heavy glass security doors at the front of the surgical wing shattered completely under the massive impact.
Through the dim red emergency lights, I could hear the heavy boots of a police SWAT team pouring into the corridor.
Arthur had successfully delivered the offshore financial evidence and the murder logs to the FBI.
The federal agents were not waiting for the power to come back on to save my daughter.
Dr. Vance looked toward the hallway, completely distracted by the screaming voices of the tactical officers.
I seized the perfect opportunity and violently kicked his kneecap with all my strength.
He howled in agonizing pain and dropped the lethal syringe onto the sterile tile floor.
I grabbed a heavy metal IV pole next to the bed and swung it fiercely at his head.
The thick metal connected with a sickening crack, and Dr. Vance collapsed completely unconscious to the ground.
Sarah rushed over quickly and unlocked the heavy wheels of Chloe's surgical table.
"We have to push her toward the federal agents before Julian gets here!" Sarah yelled over the deafening noise.
We pushed the heavy metal bed toward the OR doors, desperate to reach the police line.
Just as we reached the exit, a side door violently burst open.
Julian stepped out of his private scrub room, completely covered in green surgical gear.
He looked around at the federal agents dismantling his entire empire, and a look of absolute madness crossed his face.
He didn't try to run away or surrender to the heavily armed men.
He looked directly at me and pulled a small, black detonator switch from his deep pocket.
"If I can't have this hospital, nobody gets to leave it alive," Julian screamed furiously.
He had rigged the VIP wing's massive backup oxygen tanks with highly explosive chemical charges.

He raised his thumb aggressively, completely prepared to press the deadly red button.
"Nobody move a single muscle, or I will blow us all to hell!" Julian commanded, his voice echoing over the terrified crowd.
