Chapter 10 - The True Heir

Just as the fabric tore completely, David burst through the ruined balcony doors.

He dove onto the wet stone and grabbed my arm with his one good hand.

With a massive roar of effort, David hauled me up over the broken railing to absolute safety.

Richard lost his balance during the sudden struggle and stumbled backward toward the edge.

He slipped on the wet stone, wildly waving his arms before catching himself firmly on the outer ledge.

The blaring sirens of dozens of police cruisers finally pierced through the stormy night.

A heavily armed tactical team swarmed the rooftop, pulling a screaming Richard up only to place him directly in handcuffs.

The nightmare was finally over.

Six months later, I sat proudly in the custom leather CEO chair of Whitmore Enterprises.

Eleanor had made a full and miraculous recovery, and she smiled brightly at me from across the boardroom.

David was now the highly paid head of our massive security division, completely healed and universally trusted.

We shared a beautiful toast at our family dinner, finally enjoying the absolute peace and wealth we truly deserved.

After dinner, I returned to my private office to open a sealed letter delivered from my late foster father's estate.

I broke the heavy wax seal and read the single, terrifying sentence written inside.

"Eleanor is not your biological mother, and the real heir is currently hunting you down."
