Chapter 7 - The Extraction

Rachel did not hesitate for a single microsecond.
She kicked a heavy metal evidence cart forcefully toward the tactical officers.
The heavy cart crashed into their knees, completely throwing off their initial volley of gunfire.
Rachel dove behind a massive pallet of confiscated electronics as bullets tore through the room.
She returned fire, carefully targeting their exposed legs below the heavy riot shields.
Two officers went down screaming, dropping their heavy rifles onto the concrete floor.
Rachel sprinted out of cover, grabbed a discarded flashbang grenade from a nearby shelf, and pulled the pin.
She tossed it perfectly into the center of the room and covered her eyes.
A blinding white flash and a deafening boom completely incapacitated the remaining officer.
Rachel burst out of the evidence room and ran furiously toward the basement parking garage.
Marcus was waiting in an idling stolen ambulance by the loading dock.
Rachel jumped into the passenger seat, and Marcus floored the heavy gas pedal.
The ambulance crashed aggressively through the metal security gates, tearing out into the chaotic city streets.
"Did you get the location?" Marcus shouted over the wailing sirens of their stolen vehicle.
"The abandoned water treatment plant on the north side of the river," Rachel confirmed, checking her weapon.
They arrived at the massive, decaying concrete facility just as the sun began to rise.

They kicked open the rusted metal doors and descended into the dark, echoing depths of the underground bunker.
There, standing in the center of the dark room, was the Chief of Police holding a gun to Sarah's head.
