Chapter 10 - The False Victory

Rachel’s heart completely stopped beating in her chest.

She realized the Chief of Police was never the true mastermind behind the massive criminal syndicate.

The man funding the operation and controlling the police was the federal agent standing right in front of her.

Agent Miller noticed her staring at the ring, and a cold, lethal smile spread across his face.

He slowly reached his hand toward the heavy pistol holstered at his hip.

Rachel did not hesitate for a single second.

She violently threw the scalding hot coffee directly into Miller's eyes.

Miller screamed in blinding pain, blindly firing his weapon into the kitchen wall.

Rachel tackled him forcefully through the glass coffee table, completely disarming him before he could fire again.

She drew her own weapon and pressed it aggressively against his forehead just as heavily armed, honest FBI backup arrived at the front door.

The tactical agents stormed the safehouse, quickly securing the compromised agent and taking total control of the situation.

The massive cartel threat was permanently neutralized, and the corrupt police chief was facing life in federal prison.

Rachel’s name was officially cleared of all criminal charges by the federal prosecutor on site.

She watched from the porch as Lily and Leo hugged their mother tightly in the warm morning sun.

It was a total, undeniable victory against the darkness that had consumed the city.

Rachel stepped off the wooden porch to speak with the arriving medical transport team.

Sarah remained completely alone in the quiet, secure living room.

Her tears stopped instantly, and her terrified, victimized expression vanished entirely.

She pulled a hidden burner phone from her pocket and typed a quick, encrypted text message.

"The federal asset is dead, and the police chief is ruined."

"I now completely control the city's entire drug trade."

Sarah looked through the glass window at Rachel and smiled a chilling, evil smile.
