Chapter 9 - The Crimson Floor

"Toby, no!" Sadie screamed, breaking her cover and stepping out into the open warehouse.

Roman whipped his head around, his eyes widening in pure terror as he saw her exposed.

"Sadie, get out of here!" Roman roared, raising his shotgun.

Toby looked at his sister with a gaze full of pure, venomous hatred.

"You always thought you were better than us, Sadie," Toby sneered, raising the detonator high in the air.

"I only used you to get the layout of his mansion, and now you can die with him."

Before Toby could press the button, Sadie ran toward the forklift parked near the entrance and slammed her hand onto the emergency alarm panel.

A deafening, piercing siren blared through the warehouse, disorienting the gunmen.

Roman used the split-second distraction to open fire, his shotgun blasting the closest men to the ground.

A massive, chaotic firefight erupted, filling the air with thick smoke, sparks, and shattering concrete.

Roman fought like a demon, moving with lethal precision despite his severe injuries, cutting a path directly toward Sadie.

He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her behind a steel support beam just as bullets rained down on their position.

Toby panicked in the crossfire, dropping the detonator as he tried to run for the exit.

Roman stepped out from cover, raising his weapon with cold, calculating focus.

He fired a single shot, taking down the Moretti boss instantly, causing the remaining rival men to scatter in fear.

The warehouse fell into a sudden, eerie silence, save for the sound of rain hitting the metal roof.

Roman dropped his empty weapon and pulled Sadie into a desperate, crushing embrace.

"It is over," Roman whispered against her hair, his body trembling with exhaustion.

As they turned to walk out of the warehouse, a dying Moretti goon on the floor raised his pistol.

The man aimed directly at Sadie’s unprotected back.
