Chapter 7 - The Inferno

The corrupt cop erupted into a blind, furious rage at his sister's betrayal.
He lunged upward from the couch, ignoring his handcuffs, and tackled Miranda to the floor.
Miranda shrieked as they violently struggled over the bloody kitchen knife she had dropped earlier.
Elias and the police chief rushed forward to separate them.
In the chaotic struggle, Miranda kicked the heavy glass coffee table.
The table shattered, sending the heavy base crashing directly into the wall heater.
The impact severed the main gas line running behind the baseboard.
A loud, terrifying hissing sound filled the room as invisible gas flooded the air.
The police chief yelled for everyone to evacuate the house immediately.
Miranda managed to wrestle the knife away from her brother.
She slashed it blindly, catching the chief in the shoulder and forcing him backward.
She pulled a hidden, silver snub-nose revolver from her ankle holster.
She did not aim it at the police chief or at Elias.
May you like
She aimed the gun directly at the sparking, exposed wires of the broken wall heater.
She pulled the trigger, and a massive wall of explosive fire instantly erupted in the living room.
