Chapter 5 - The Digital Ghost

Rocco stared at the bloody flash drive resting on the scratched metal table.
"Where did you get this?" Rocco asked, his voice low and dangerous.
"I ripped it from the neck chain of Marcus's chief hacker before the reception," Victoria answered, wiping her hands.
Leo plugged the drive into an encrypted laptop sitting on a nearby workbench.
Lines of code scrolled rapidly across the screen, breaking the heavy silence in the room.
"It's a complete ledger of Marcus's offshore accounts and communications," Leo announced, his eyes widening.
Rocco stepped closer, staring at the names flashing on the digital display.
He expected to see rival mob bosses, corrupt politicians, or greedy cartel leaders.
Instead, he saw a single, repeating code name funneling millions into Maria's bank accounts.
"Who is the Architect?" Rocco demanded, pointing at the mysterious alias.
Victoria shook her head, looking just as confused as the men in the room.
"I don't know, but the ledger shows they need a specific biometric key to access the main trust."
Leo typed furiously, isolating the security parameters for the offshore fortune.
"Boss, the trust isn't locked by your fingerprint, or Marcus's, or Maria's."
Rocco felt a cold dread wash over him as he slowly turned to look at the cot.
Noah was fast asleep, his small chest rising and falling peacefully in the dim light.
"The biometric lock requires the retinal scan of the Caruso heir," Leo whispered.
They didn't just want to kill Rocco to take his empire.
They needed Noah alive to steal his multi-billion dollar inheritance.

Suddenly, the heavy metal door of the safe room began to glow a bright, cherry red.
Someone was using a plasma torch to cut through the steel from the outside.
