Chapter 3 - The Underground Maze

Rocco tensed, preparing to fight Victoria to the death for his son.

But Victoria lowered the weapon and tossed him a heavy ring of iron keys.

"Marcus plans to blow the estate to cover his tracks, we have less than ten minutes," she warned.

Rocco caught the keys, his mind racing to process this sudden shift in loyalty.

"Why are you helping me, Victoria?" he demanded, rushing down the damp stone steps.

She kept her eyes forward, her flashlight cutting through the underground gloom.

"Because my daughter is locked in a cell in Marcus's basement, and you are the only man ruthless enough to kill him."

They navigated the ancient prohibition-era tunnels beneath the Caruso mansion.

Water dripped from the ceiling as they ran toward the river exit.

Noah clung to Rocco's neck, incredibly brave despite the terrifying silence in his deaf ear.

Suddenly, the ground shook violently beneath their feet as the first explosion tore through the mansion above.

Dust and debris rained down, threatening to collapse the fragile tunnel.

They sprinted toward the heavy steel door at the end of the passage.

Rocco jammed the iron key into the lock and twisted it with all his strength.

The door swung open, revealing the cold, dark waters of the city river.

A sleek speedboat was waiting at the dock, its engine already humming softly.

But someone was sitting in the driver's seat, smoking a cigar in the shadows.

"Going somewhere, boss?" a deep, familiar voice echoed over the water.

It was Rocco's head of security, the one man he thought he could trust implicitly.
