Chapter 4 - The Escape Tunnel

Leo grabbed my arm and pulled me behind a stack of wooden crates.

Gunfire erupted, tearing through the wooden boxes right above our heads.

I clutched the metal lockbox tightly against my chest.

Leo returned fire with his sidearm, taking down two of the mercenaries.

He yelled that we had to reach the emergency escape tunnel at the back of the warehouse.

We crawled on our hands and knees through the heavy smoke.

The deafening sound of bullets echoing off the concrete walls was terrifying.

Adrian shouted my name, his voice echoing with pure malice.

He promised to let me live if I handed over the evidence hidden inside the box.

I ignored him and followed Leo toward a heavy grate in the floor.

Leo pulled the iron grate open and pushed me down into the dark tunnel.

He jumped in right behind me and secured the lock from the inside.

We ran through the damp, narrow passage until we reached a ladder leading up to the street.

We climbed out into the cool night air, emerging three blocks away from the warehouse.

Leo led me to a black SUV parked under a broken streetlight.

We got inside, and he started the engine.

Then Leo locked all the doors and turned to look at me with a cold expression.

He pulled out his gun and pointed it at my head.
