Chapter 5 - The Trap

The red dot stayed fixed on my chest, unmoving.

"Drop the weapon, Roman," the voice commanded.

A figure stepped into the moonlight filtering through the penthouse windows.

It was Elias, surrounded by six heavily armed mercenaries.

Roman slowly lowered his rifle to the floor, his face completely unreadable.

"You are a fool to come here yourself, Elias," Roman said coldly.

"I wanted to see you lose everything personally," the older man sneered.

Elias snapped his fingers, gesturing for one of the guards to take the metal capsule from Roman.

The guard stepped forward, reaching into Roman’s coat pocket.

He never even touched the fabric.

Titan erupted from the darkness beneath the kitchen island like a guided missile.

His massive jaws locked onto the guard's arm, crushing bone with a sickening crack.

The man screamed, dropping his weapon and thrashing wildly.

Chaos erupted as the remaining mercenaries raised their guns.

Roman kicked his rifle up from the floor, catching it mid-air, and opened fire.

He grabbed me by the tactical vest and threw me behind a heavy marble counter.

Bullets shredded the luxury apartment, shattering glass and tearing through expensive furniture.

"To the roof!" Roman yelled over the gunfire.

He whistled for Titan, who released the whimpering guard and sprinted toward us.

We scrambled up the emergency stairwell, our lungs burning as we reached the roof access door.

Roman kicked it open, pushing me out into the freezing night air.

We ran toward the edge of the building, hoping to find a fire escape.

Instead, a blinding spotlight hit us from the sky, freezing us in our tracks.

A black attack helicopter hovered just above the roofline, the side door sliding open to reveal a mounted machine gun.
