Chapter 8 - The Alpine Chase

Sophia burst into the underground garage. She bypassed the luxury sedans and sprinted toward a sleek, black Ducati motorcycle. She had ridden them on the Amalfi coast for years.
She threw her leg over the seat, jammed the ignition override device Gabriel had given her into the console, and revved the engine. The massive garage doors were slowly lowering.
Two armed guards burst into the garage, raising their weapons.
Sophia slammed the throttle. The Ducati roared to life, launching forward. Gunfire erupted, the bullets sparking against the concrete floor, but Sophia tucked low over the handlebars, sliding underneath the lowering garage door with inches to spare.
She burst out into the freezing Alpine night. The winding mountain roads were treacherous, coated in a thin layer of black ice.
Behind her, three black Range Rovers tore out of the compound, their high beams cutting through the darkness.
The chase was terrifying. Sophia weaved through the hairpin turns, the rear tire of the Ducati sliding on the ice. The lead Range Rover aggressively bumped her back tire, trying to send her over the edge of the cliff into the abyss below.

Sophia downshifted, hitting the brakes hard. The Range Rover flew past her, unable to stop its momentum on the ice, crashing through the guardrail and disappearing into the darkness below.
She didn't look back. She accelerated down the mountain, tearing toward the Geneva airport where Gabriel was waiting with a chartered jet. She had the data. Now, she needed the world's stage.
