The sun was beginning its slow, golden descent over the sweeping valleys of the Loire region, casting long, dramatic shadows across the ancient stone façade of the Château de Lumière.

The Geneva compound was a fortress of glass and steel nestled in the snow-capped Swiss Alps.

The private ceremony was brief and entirely devoid of love. Sophia wore a simple, elegant white sheath dress. As she signed the marriage certificate, legally merging her royal estate with OmniCorp, flashes from a select group of approved journalists captured the moment. The narrative was set: a beautiful reconciliation.

OmniCorp’s stock immediately surged. Victor had won.

That night, in the sprawling, high-tech master suite, Victor poured two glasses of expensive Champagne.

"To our future," Victor toasted, his eyes glittering with triumph. He took a long drink.

Sophia smiled, pretending to sip hers. Hidden beneath the fingernail of her right index finger was a micro-dose of an untraceable, heavy sedative Gabriel had procured from his Interpol contacts.

"I’m going to change into something more comfortable," Sophia purred, stepping close to Victor. As she reached up to straighten his lapel, she smoothly deposited the powder into his glass.

Ten minutes later, Victor was sitting on the edge of the bed, blinking heavily. "I feel... strange," he slurred.

"You've had a long day, darling," Sophia said coldly, dropping the subservient act entirely.

Victor looked up at her, confusion morphing into sudden, terrifying realization. But the sedative was too strong. His eyes rolled back, and he collapsed onto the Egyptian cotton sheets, completely unconscious.

Sophia moved with lightning speed. She pulled a specialized silicone mold kit and a high-res retinal scanner from her hidden luggage. She pressed the silicone to Victor’s thumb, creating a perfect replica of his fingerprint. Then, she pried his eyelids open and scanned his retina into a customized optical-lens interface Gabriel had built.
