Chapter 8 - The Edge of Sanity

The freezing ocean wind whipped violently around Serena as she dangled the innocent baby over the massive drop.

Ethan cried loudly, terrified by the cold and the sheer height of the cliff.

Victor slowly raised his hands, dropping the heavy tire iron onto the wet rocks to show he was unarmed.

"Let him go, Serena, you have already lost everything," Victor pleaded desperately.

Serena’s eyes were completely wild, filled with the madness of a woman whose grand plan had crumbled.

"If I cannot use him to get your money, then neither of you gets a happy ending!" Serena screamed.

Marcus tightened his grip on the gun, keeping Victor and Lily frozen in place.

Lily slowly stepped forward, placing herself slightly in front of Victor.

"You killed my sister because you were jealous of her perfect life," Lily accused loudly.

Serena stared at Lily, finally recognizing the striking resemblance between the nanny and the late wife.

"Your sister was weak, and I deserved this billionaire empire far more than she ever did!" Serena confessed.

Victor secretly reached into his pocket and pressed a silent emergency beacon connected to the police.

He just needed to buy them a few more minutes until the authorities arrived.

"I will transfer my entire company to your offshore accounts, just hand me the boy," Victor bargained.

Serena smirked, realizing she finally had the ultimate leverage over the powerful billionaire.

She slowly pulled Ethan away from the edge, stepping back onto the solid ground.

But Marcus suddenly shook his head, aiming his gun directly at Lily's forehead.

"No witnesses, Serena, that was the deal we made," Marcus growled.

Marcus pulled the trigger without any hesitation.
