Chapter 8 - The Grandmother's Bracelet

My bodyguard tackled Christopher to the ground with a sickening thud.

He pinned my treacherous husband to the marble floor, twisting his arms behind his back.

The police officers rushed forward and clamped heavy steel handcuffs on Christopher's wrists.

He writhed on the floor, screaming curses at me and cursing the day our son was born.

Brenda collapsed against the wall, gasping for breath and holding her bleeding neck.

She looked up at me with tear filled eyes, expecting me to offer her comfort.

She whispered an apology, claiming she was a victim of Christopher's manipulation.

I walked slowly over to her, feeling absolutely no pity in my heart.

I reached down and grabbed my grandmother's gold bracelet from her trembling wrist.

I unclasped it smoothly and slipped it safely into my own jacket pocket.

I told Brenda that she made her own choices the night she decided to drug my soup.

Two female police officers grabbed Brenda by the arms and pulled her to her feet.

She began kicking and screaming as they read her the Miranda rights in front of the cameras.

The reporters snapped thousands of pictures of the mistress being dragged away in my stolen gown.

I turned to Luke and wrapped my arms around his shoulders in a tight embrace.

I told my brilliant son how incredibly proud I was of him.

An FBI agent wearing a sharp suit walked into the ballroom and approached us.

He introduced himself as Special Agent Carter, holding a thick file folder in his hand.

He looked at the digital screens and told us we had a massive problem.

The offshore accounts Luke had drained did not belong exclusively to Christopher.
