Chapter 5 - The Forged Signature

The crowd gasped as Christopher waved the official looking paper in the air.

He proudly stated that my father's company now belonged entirely to him.

Brenda suddenly stopped crying and walked over to stand by his side.

She wiped her fake tears and looked at me with a triumphant, wicked smirk.

She told the reporters that I was suffering from severe early onset dementia.

She claimed she only wore my dress to the gala to honor my fading memory.

The audacity of her lies made the blood boil fiercely in my veins.

I looked at the signature on the document Christopher was holding up for the cameras.

It looked exactly like my handwriting, perfectly replicated down to the smallest curve.

Christopher sneered and whispered that I would never be able to prove it was a forgery.

He ordered the hotel security to remove me from the private corporate event.

Two large men in black suits grabbed my arms and started pulling me backward.

I did not struggle or scream, because I knew my son was already making his move.

Luke walked casually onto the stage and plugged a small flash drive into the podium laptop.

The massive screen behind Christopher flickered and displayed a live video feed.

The video showed Brenda sitting in a dark office, carefully practicing my signature over and over again.

Christopher's confident smile instantly shattered into a million pieces.

But the video continued playing, revealing a third person in the room with Brenda.

It was the chief of police, handing Brenda a stack of blank corporate forms.
