Chapter 6 - The Unlikely Ally

Dominic woke up tied to a heavy metal chair in the center of an empty warehouse.
Thick steel chains bound his wrists and ankles, biting painfully into his skin.
Nathan walked slowly into the room, holding a crystal glass of expensive bourbon.
“You always were too sentimental, Dom,” Nathan mocked, taking a slow sip.
Nathan explained that he had already moved into the Hudson Valley estate as its new master.
He had convinced the other syndicate bosses that Dominic had gone insane and murdered his own guards.
“Where is the little girl and her mother?” Dominic growled, pulling fiercely against the chains.
Nathan smiled, a cruel, soulless expression that made Dominic's blood boil.
“Silas is taking care of them until I decide what to do with the loose ends,” Nathan replied.
Nathan pulled a heavy silver handgun from his tailored suit jacket and aimed it at Dominic’s head.
He gloated about how easy it had been to murder Dominic's first wife and steal the empire.
He placed his finger on the trigger, ready to execute his former best friend.
Suddenly, a massive explosion rocked the warehouse, blowing the heavy steel doors completely off their hinges.
Smoke filled the room as a dozen heavily armed men in black tactical gear stormed inside.
Nathan panicked and fired wildly into the smoke, completely missing Dominic.
One of the masked men stepped forward and shot the gun right out of Nathan’s hand.
Nathan screamed in pain and scrambled away into the dark shadows of the warehouse to escape.
The leader of the tactical team walked up to Dominic and pulled off his black mask.
It was Marcello Rossi, the ruthless boss of a rival mafia family in New York.
Marcello pulled out a large knife and effortlessly cut the heavy ropes binding Dominic to the chair.
“I heard a rat was trying to wear your crown, Dominic,” Marcello said with a dark grin.
“I hate you, but I absolutely despise Nathan Cross.”

Marcello offered his hand to help Dominic stand up.
“I will give you an army to take back your home, but the price for my help will be incredibly high.”
