Chapter 3 - The Bloody Escape

"We need to leave this house immediately before Daniel realizes he left that phone," Grant commanded.
"I know an underground surgeon in the slums who owes me his life," Hannah offered quickly.
She packed a small duffel bag with cash while little Lucy clung tightly to her leg.
They moved silently through the mansion toward the heavy iron door of the underground wine cellar.
The doorway was guarded by one of Daniel's heavily armed mercenaries.
"You cannot be down here without an escort, Mister Mercer," the guard grunted aggressively.
Grant used his acutely heightened hearing to track the exact rhythm of the man's heartbeat.
He swung his heavy wooden cane through the air with brutal, terrifying precision.
The solid silver handle shattered the guard's kneecap instantly.
Grant grabbed the falling man by the throat and choked him into unconsciousness before he could scream.
They slipped into the damp, forgotten smuggling tunnels hidden cleverly behind the dusty wine racks.
An hour later, they arrived at a filthy, unlit medical clinic hidden deep within the city slums.
An old, trembling doctor shined a brilliantly bright light directly into Grant's unblinking eyes.
The doctor injected a highly experimental neutralizing serum directly into Grant's damaged optical nerves.
"Your vision will return in a matter of minutes," the old doctor muttered nervously.
"But we have a much more immediate problem."
The doctor pointed a handheld scanning device at the side of Grant's face.

"There is a military-grade tracking microchip implanted directly behind your right retina."
Grant realized this was exactly how Doctor Hale had monitored his exact location for half a decade.
