Chapter 4 - The Interrogation

The massive guard lunged fiercely forward, tackling the Russian hitman with brutal, bone-crushing force.

Hannah scrambled desperately out of the dark closet, gasping loudly for air as her heart hammered violently against her bruised ribs.

Within seconds, the dangerous hitman was entirely disarmed and pinned securely to the cold linoleum floor.

Damen arrived at the chaotic clinic exactly twelve minutes later, his handsome face a terrifying mask of pure, lethal fury.

He ruthlessly ordered the entire clinic closed for the day, completely ignoring the frantic protests of the terrified medical staff.

His men dragged the struggling captive into an empty, soundproof examination room and locked the heavy wooden door behind them.

Hannah stood frozen in the hallway, pressing her trembling hands fiercely against her ears to block out the anticipated violence.

She fully expected to hear agonizing screams, but there was only the low, terrifying murmur of Damen's unnervingly calm voice.

After ten agonizing minutes of utter silence, Damen finally emerged, carefully rolling down the pristine sleeves of his expensive white shirt.

"Did he tell you exactly what the syndicate wants?" she asked, her voice shaking uncontrollably in the quiet hall.

"He confirmed that your cowardly ex-boyfriend officially sold your location to the Volkov family to clear his massive gambling debts," Damen replied softly.

Hannah closed her eyes tightly, a single bitter tear escaping as profound betrayal carved a deep, painful hollow in her chest.

Suddenly, the heavy examination room door creaked slowly open, revealing the heavily battered hitman slumped helplessly against a metal chair.

Thick blood dripped rapidly from a nasty cut above his eyebrow, effectively blinding him in his left eye.

Hannah did not think logically about the immense danger as her ingrained medical instincts completely took over her body.

She instinctively grabbed a sterile gauze pad from a nearby rolling cart and stepped bravely past Damen into the bloody room.

"What exactly are you doing?" Damen demanded instantly, genuine shock momentarily breaking his icy, calculated facade.

"He is bleeding heavily, and I am still a registered nurse," she stated firmly, pressing the clean gauze gently to the hardened killer's wound.

The dangerous hitman stared up at her in utter, absolute disbelief, flinching involuntarily away from her gentle, healing touch.

Damen watched her actions with an intense, burning gaze that suddenly made the air in the small room feel incredibly heavy.

He finally realized in that exact moment that her boundless kindness was not a fatal weakness, but rather an unstoppable, beautiful force of nature.

She efficiently finished bandaging the deep wound and stepped carefully back, wiping sticky blood from her own trembling hands.

"Take this man directly to the police station," she told Damen, lifting her chin with a newfound, fierce bravery.

Marco suddenly burst violently into the chaotic hallway, holding a ringing, untraceable burner phone out to his terrifying boss.

Marco's rugged face was entirely drained of color as he prepared to deliver the devastating news.
