Chapter 6 - The Return of the Dead

Lucas hid perfectly behind a massive concrete pillar in the dark basement corridor.
He peered carefully into the heavily illuminated underground vault area.
Victor and Elena were eagerly watching armed mercenaries load massive bricks of gold into rolling crates.
In the center of the cold room, his elderly mother was tied securely to a harsh metal chair.
She was bleeding slightly from her forehead, but she glared fiercely at Victor with absolute defiance.
Lucas tightened his grip firmly on the stolen pistol, completely preparing to ambush the entire room.
He slowly crept forward, flawlessly using the shadows of the massive safety deposit boxes for cover.
He violently grabbed a passing mercenary from behind and choked him entirely into absolute unconsciousness.
He dragged the heavy body into the dark shadows and stole the man's extra ammunition.
Lucas stepped boldly out into the bright light and aimed his weapon directly at Elena's head.
"Tell your men to drop their guns right now, Victor," Lucas commanded with absolute, terrifying authority.
The armed mercenaries immediately froze and aimed their heavy rifles directly at Lucas's chest.
Elena gasped in sheer panic and desperately tried to hide entirely behind Victor's broad shoulders.
Victor did not even flinch, he simply smiled warmly and began to slowly clap his hands again.
"You always were the brave hero of this pathetic family," Victor mocked casually.
Lucas cocked the hammer of the gun, entirely prepared to shoot his own brother to save his mother.
"Let her go right now, or I will kill your perfect little bride," Lucas threatened aggressively.
Victor sighed dramatically and pulled a small electronic device from his tailored pocket.
"You really should have checked the security cameras before playing the hero," Victor laughed wickedly.
He pressed a glowing button on the device, and a massive metal door loudly slid open behind him.
