Chapter 5 - The Vault of Secrets
The massive hitman lunged forward with terrifying, incredible speed.
He swung the deadly metal wire directly toward Lucas's exposed neck.
Lucas aggressively ducked beneath the attack and violently drove his shoulder into the man's chest.
They crashed heavily into the glass coffee table, shattering it completely into sharp pieces.
The hitman roared in anger and punched Lucas fiercely across the jaw.
Lucas stumbled backward, his vision swimming wildly with dark, dizzying spots.
He noticed the heavy bronze lamp resting innocently on the bedside table near Mia.
He grabbed the heavy base and swung it with absolutely every single ounce of strength he had left.
The bronze violently struck the hitman on the side of his bald head.
The massive man completely lost his balance and collapsed heavily onto the ruined floor.
Lucas quickly grabbed the dropped wire garrote and tied the unconscious man's hands securely together.
He snatched the laptop and successfully finished copying the final pieces of the encrypted data.
He turned to his terrified daughter and wiped away her endless, silent tears.
"I need you to hide perfectly inside the laundry chute until I come back for you," Lucas whispered.
He safely placed her into the dark, padded chute and securely locked the small wooden door.
He picked up the hitman's dropped radio and listened closely to the chaotic tactical chatter.
A cruel, familiar voice suddenly crackled loudly over the static channel.
"We have captured the billionaire's mother in the basement," Victor proudly announced to his men.
Lucas felt a sharp, agonizing pain physically rip right through his chest.
His elderly, fragile mother was now trapped directly in the most dangerous room of the entire building.
He grabbed the hitman's heavy pistol and rushed entirely out of the ruined bridal suite.
