Chapter 9 - The Debt Repaid
The loud wailing of police sirens echoed in the distance as loyal syndicate members finally arrived.
The heavily armed reinforcements quickly secured the damaged property and eliminated any remaining threats.
Bruno was rushed to a secure private hospital where top doctors confirmed he would make a full recovery.
Alejandro sat down exhaustedly on a ruined velvet couch and pulled Claire and Emma close to him.
He looked at the brave mother and daughter who had completely changed his dark and lonely life.
He officially declared that they were now under the permanent and absolute protection of the Moretti family.
No one in the entire criminal underworld would ever dare to lay a single finger on them again.
Emma smiled warmly and handed Alejandro her pale pink rabbit backpack for him to hold.
He promised the little girl that she would never have to be afraid in his massive house ever again.
He promised to provide them with a luxurious safe house and endless financial support for the rest of their lives.
Claire thanked the powerful mafia king for showing them a rare kindness in a world of pure brutality.
They had somehow found a strange but beautifully loyal new family amidst the terrible violence of the night.
Alejandro finally ordered his men to clean up the estate and prepare for a brand new beginning.
He felt a deep sense of peace knowing that the dangerous traitor in his own bloodline had been removed.
The core conflict that had nearly destroyed his massive empire was completely and satisfactorily resolved.
He knew that he could finally move forward and honor his late daughter's memory by protecting this innocent child.
The dark storm had passed and a bright new chapter was officially starting for the Moretti syndicate.
A few days later, Claire was quietly unpacking Emma's things in their luxurious new seaside safe house.

She pulled out a faded photograph of Alejandro's deceased wife that had a bloody red target drawn directly over her face.
