Chapter 7 - The Equinox Gala

The Grand Ballroom of the Plaza Hotel was a monument to wealth. Three hundred of New York’s absolute elite mingled beneath crystal chandeliers, drinking champagne and discussing corporate takeovers.
Genevieve wore a bespoke crimson gown, dripping in borrowed diamonds, looking like the queen of Manhattan. She played the room perfectly, shaking hands with senators and smiling for the society photographers.
Julian stood by the bar, watching her. In his pocket was a heavy silver flash drive.
Elias walked up beside him, dressed in a tuxedo. "The ink is dry, Julian. Genevieve signed the Trust documents this morning. The moment her signature hit the paper, our hackers initiated the transfer. Her Cayman accounts have been completely drained and routed into an anonymous charity for orphaned children."

"Waiting in the lobby," Elias confirmed. "They have the warrant for the fraudulent hiring of the nanny, wire fraud, and the extortion evidence from London."
"Good." Julian checked his heavy gold watch. "It's time for the toast."

Julian tapped his champagne glass with a silver spoon. The ringing sound cut through the hum of the ballroom. The string quartet faded into silence. Three hundred faces turned toward the billionaire real estate titan.
Genevieve glided to his side, slipping her arm through his, ready to accept her crown.
