Chapter 4 - The Trojan Nanny

Genevieve was bold, but she was also impatient. The next week, she fired Maria, the warm, loving nanny who had been with Chloe since birth.
"She was stealing from my jewelry box, Julian," Genevieve lied effortlessly over breakfast. "I had to let her go. But don't worry, I've already hired a replacement from a highly exclusive agency. Her name is Ms. Helga."
Ms. Helga arrived that afternoon. She was a stern, unsmiling woman who looked more like a prison warden than a caregiver. Julian immediately recognized the tactic. Genevieve was isolating Chloe, surrounding the child with hostile enforcers to break her spirit completely.
Julian played his part. He agreed with Genevieve, kissed her cheek, and left for work.
But the moment he stepped into his town car, he made a call. He reached out to Maria, the fired nanny, setting her up in a luxury apartment on his private payroll.

Then, he turned his attention to Ms. Helga. Julian didn't fire her. Instead, he had Elias dig into her background. It took two hours to discover that Ms. Helga was an undocumented immigrant with a string of forged credentials, specifically hired by Genevieve through a black-market fixer.
Julian smiled. Genevieve had just handed him a federal crime on a silver platter. He didn't pull the trigger yet. He simply added the bullet to his growing magazine. He would let Genevieve build her house of cards as high as she wanted, just so the fall would absolutely destroy her.
